Dst has a small but still somewhat dangerous problem.
Trash. Piles of rot, twigs, rotten eggs and manure liter the map. Rot is mostly caused by seeds or monster meat lying around. If your world is "unlucky" then all saplings on the Surface will be replaced with twigly trees. Twiggs everywhere. Penguls leave their eggs at the end of winter and then they rot. If you domesticate a beefalo or let koalefant roam the land then you'll surely start noticing mnore and more poop wherever you go. Those things can sometimes lead to lag or fps drop on weaker computers.
So far there're only 2 creatures that will actively look for stuff (like ort and rotten eggs) to eat. One of them is pig and another is buzzard. HAving to build pig houses everywhere isn't a good idea and buzzards cannot be "replanted".
Here're my ideas:
-Stick insects. You know those bugs that look like sticks. They'd act like moleworms but seek out twigs. They'd have some sort of home they spawn from and you can move around. Just like moleworms but for sticks.
-Poop disappearing after some time. This or add new plant creature that'd eat poop, guano, rot and rotten eggs.
