I think it would be really useful if rooms could be designated to never be the connection point with another task, or if you could nestle rooms in the middle of a task, or sequester them off with the background rooms. Plus it always feels bad to me when, for example, the pig king is just sitting there right at the entrance of Speak to the king.
I think a lot of tasks have a few features that makes them what they are and are the primary reason why people even want to go there. Perhaps these things should show up deeper in the zone so you have more cause to explore it.
